Splitting website in two

Recommended Posts

I don’t know what this is called but wonder if my website can have an opening page and then two internal page set up with separate menu pages. Click A for X — Click B for Y. And then separate “websites” inside each of those. Any advice, if my question is understood, is appreciated!

The technique I've read about being used most often is to have one website and create a site navigation that has all the menu items. Then with Javascript you manipulate which "set" of menu items is visible depending which part of the site you are in.

Think multi-language site.

Another option is to have two or more sites and then redirect to each site as appropriate. This is obviously more expensive but does have some advantages. In most cases it reduces the need for somewhat complex code to handle swapping menu items and other interface elements as needed.

If you could give us more detail or even show an example of what you are going after we might be able to be more specific.

Do search the forum for multi-language site questions those will probably have, in general, some of the basics for any kind of split path site.

Ideally I’d like an opening page that say “if you’d like information about neurology click here” and “if you’d like information about executive coaching, click here”. Then the menus and content would be different past the two clicks.
