Will Squarespace be supporting 7.0 Developer mode for the foreseeable future

Recommended Posts

I am currently working on a redesign for my client in Squarespace, 7.1 is terrible I have to constantly duplicate the site since it's a larger build and then rework the CSS because the ID's of all my blocks change. Does anyone have a solution for this? I wish I never would have gone into 7.1 for this build and stuck with 7.0.

I'm upset that developers seem to be unsupported with this updated version.

Personally I think it's gone, they wants to keep the 7.1 as simple as possible for non-tech-savy guy. For me, the missing of gallery page and block has driving me nut!

For the duplicating issue could you target the elements by their layout position? Not ideal I'd imagine. If you have a page and have targeted a page, page section, row, column, etc. then that target would not change across site duplication, in theory. It wouldn't change until you change the structure of the page.

As to developer mode I think that is a very small percentage of all the users. Probably not worth carrying over from SS perspective. The only time I use it is when a client wants to replicate an existing site as closely as possible. That is like twice, mostly because they had several "normal" SS sites and just wanted to have all their sites hosted at the same provider. So narrowing down that percentage even more! SS v7.0 is still here and still useful.

Don't get me wrong! I'd love a DM in all versions of SS!
