Version 7.1 Masonry Gallery Descriptions.

I have a site that is live but does not have gallery descriptions. Fine art galleries prefer image description for inquiries about certain images. It is nice to know the name, rather than just describing it.

When I upgraded to 7.1 and activated the descriptions, they appear beneath every image and are quite distracting. They also skew the gallery if you mix vertical and horizontal images together which is kind of the point of a masonry gallery. So I turned off this feature. 

I want the descriptions to appear only in Lightbox on the bottom left of each image, or someplace less conspicuous. 

Version 7.0 had this available out of the box with the Wells template. I upgraded to 7.1 and it seems to a lot of work to accomplish?

I have read through the forums but many are dated so wondering if there is a current workaround.
