Counting YouTube views using Google Tag Manager

Hi there!

Seeing that video views are not counted on embedded YouTube videos, I've set up Google Tag Manager to fire an event every time an embedded video is played on my site. I have videos in several pages and for some reason the event only fires up on some of them, not all.

I've checked everything I can think of but I can't find any difference between the pages that fire up the event vs those that don't.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I finally found what the problem was. The pages in which I was using custom thumbnails for all the videos wouldn't fire up the GTM triggers. In the page where at least one video didn't have a custom thumbnail, all the videos would fire up the triggers.

In summary: don't use custom thumbnails on your videos if you want to track views with GTM.
