Hide Empty Category from the menu

I want to be able to hide the menu category if empty - in this case you can see that the current season is empty but it still shows. 

Is there a way to do it without deleting the tag?

Did you find a way to do this - if so can you point me in the right direction to cure the same problem for me? Thank you
