How to create a click marker similar to this example web page

I'm looking to create a similar click interaction on my site similar to this (https://jakedowsmith.studio/) website.

The interaction I'm looking to go for is:

• Every time you click, a coloured circle appears  
• The next click would reveal a different colour 
• The next click would reveal a different colour from the first and second
• This would repeat with 3 different colours
