Index thumbnail image-- link to URL?

I would like to put a thumbnail image on my index page that links to a URL, i.e. my Instagram page, instead of a gallery page. Is that possible?

All image block can be turned into a link, have you tried this?

Yes, I understand that images in gallery blocks can be linked, but I would like an external link from a thumbnail image on my index page.

Now, usually thumbnail images for the index page are set up once you have a gallery page. (Page Settings > Media)

I would like to have a thumbnail on my Index (home) page without a corresponding gallery page. I want the user to click through to an external web site, not a gallery page. Is this possible?

Gallery can support clickthrough url, but it seems avenue template not
