Adding captions to images within the product section

Hi there, I am new to developing a website and I have  gotten stuck. I am wanting to add various images to my products showing the variety of colours that is available. Therefore I was hoping to have a caption under each photo describing exactly what it is. Is this possible? the additional info area seems to only add this lower on the page whereas I would like it attached to each image. Does anyone know if this is possible? Many thanks! 

I need this too. have not had luck in past even though I've been searching far and wide.
