Adding alternative text to banner image and logo image

Hello,

I would like to add alternative text to the banner image on the front page and the logo.

Unfortunately there is no option for this in the editor. For normal images I use the caption (as describes somewhere in a tutorial). 

Is there any other option I can use? 

It would be really important for accessibility improvement.
