Custom font code CSS refuses to work

Hi all,

I'm trying to get this custom font Veneer to work on this site www.changeout.squarespace.com (password: changeout) as is header font.

Code used:

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Veneer'; 
  src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/6016d3222e514a5b86ece66e/t/60316c69bd582f47016db053/1613851759471/Veneer.otf');
} 

for some reason in certain edit modes it DOES appear but it refuses to "take" otherwise (screenshot attached: the logo is a PNG and how the header font should appear.

What am I doing wrong please?
