HollyDavis1210
Site URL: https://www.thebikebus.com/ I am hoping to figure out how the reduce the overall height/size of my announcement bar. I have tried adjusting the font type, size and weight, but nothing seems to be working. It looked great when I enabled and until I added my own text - and then the bar size got huge. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
Have you gone into design /site styes and adjusted the Font Size and weighting? Those are the only two tweaks you have that affect the size of the bar. Link to comment
paul2009
@HollyDavis1210 This is currently a bug (since March 13th). If you paste text into the Announcement Bar it would normally be stripped of its formatting. Unfortunately this isn't happening right now, so if you paste in something that is H1 sized, the Announcement Bar will become enormous. Squarespace recommend the following workaround Delete all text contents of the field On empty formatted field, Select all ( Command + A ) Delete again to remove formatting creedon, JanetPassionfolk, amandaNOPI and 3 others 3 3 Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. derricksrandomviews
Makes sense as how that is happening. I have never pasted text in the bar, always typed it. I have pasted links to a line of text but that works fine. Link to comment
Sebene
Site URL: https://www.sebeneselassie.com/ Hi there I am trying to make changes to my announcement bar design (font size and color) but everytime I tried to save the changes in Firefox it timed out. I switched to Chrome and the changes show in the Design tab but not on my site. Any help appreciated. Thank you! Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
Sometimes you don't see the changes take place "live" if you are signed in. I open an incognito window or use my domain address to view, no the squaresapce domain. Link to comment
Sebene
Thanks Derrick. It's still not changing. Link to comment
Solution paul2009 Posted February 20, 2021 Solution Share Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) There is currently a bug in the Announcement Bar settings panel. It was acknowledged on 14 March last year! It should only be possible to paste "plain text" into this box, but it is currently accepting "formatted text". In your case, the text includes HTML that tells it to look like a h3 header. It can be tricky, but it should be possible to remove the formatting by Deleting all text contents within the box On the empty formatted box, Select all ( Cmd A or Ctrl A depending on Mac/Windows ) Delete again to remove formatting It may take a few attempts to do this. Once the formatting has been removed, it should display correctly. Edited February 20, 2021 by paul2009 creedon 1 Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017.
