Anyone know how to add a button inside an Event Summary Block?

I have several spots on my website where we are featuring small groups of events sorted by category, but I want to give them the option to skip the 'Event Detail' page, and directly register for the event (an external URL). Does anyone know if this can be done? I made a couple of quick mock-ups to show my intention. Thanks in advance!!!

You can enable Excerpt, add a "Register" link. Then let me know. We will give the code to turn register link to button.

The code worked beautifully, but the link on the excerpt is not working. When I click nothing happens. How can I fix this?

Can you share link to page where you use summary block?

I ended up buying the Ghost plugin, "Balance Summary Block." I usually don't pay for something like that, but I have to say, it works beautifully and was only  $30 to use forever.

I paired that with the "Lightbox anything" plugin from SqSp themes, and the result is exactly what I wanted. I didn't want senior citizens to have to do a gazillion clicks to get the information they want.
