Vertical side nav and make header and footer nav hide on desktop and then show on mobile?

Hi, I want to have side vertical nav on my site as a desktop then I want it to show the footer and header nav on mobile/ipad etc.  

I want to also make the vertical nav  go to the corner edges of the screen like this site: https://tableau-cph.com/homepage 

I actually want too copy their styles so you hover and get italic too. 

Does anyone know if this is possible?
