bunj Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Site URL: http://www.adventureoban.org Hi folks, I've seen lots of other posts about this issue but cannot for the life of me nail down a fix. The issue appears to be a common one: when sharing any URL of any page on my site over WhatsApp, WhatsApp will not offer a preview image. When sending on iMessage or posting on Facebook, all links post fine (I have used the Facebook Debugger Tool to verify and test/check as well as doing actual live posts). Interestingly, before connecting my custom domain everything worked fine - WhatsApp would offer an image preview when sharing the Squarespace-generated URL to my website. Can anyone help? Many thanks, Ben.
khs123 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 @bunj Did you ever figure this out? I'm also suffering with the same issue. Thanks
KickinGa Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Yeah still getting this problem, would love to know why this isn't working please some at Squarespace?
bunj Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 Sorry for massive delay in replying. I've discovered that if you upload an image 300kb or smaller as your Alternative Social Sharing Image for the specific page it'll work - jump into the Social Image settings for the specific page by clicking the cog next to it in the Pages section of your dashboard. Whether this is the actual fix or just a workaround I'm not sure - but it works for me. Hope that helps. KareemKamel 1
KickinGa Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Does that across a whole website too, or is it just for specific pages?
stevelangs Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 I've tried lots of the solutions presented online and I'm not having any luck with this. I'm going to try a Wix site at this rate and move my sites over. Very disappointing and now clients are complaining.
GutoAraki Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Alright, guys. I found the solution. First, delete your current overall image. On the main menu (left) Go to: Design > Social Sharing > [ . . . ] (three dots) > Remove Save Now go back to to the root of the main menu. Click on "Asset Library" Find the image you had previously uploaded, click [ . . . ] and Delete it. Go back to to the root of the main menu. Click on "Pages" When you hover your cursor over the Home page, you will see a cog icon. Click on it. Go to Social Sharing. Delete whatever is in there. It will probably not display because you already deleted from the Asset Library. Now upload your new image. Send the link to your website to yourself on iMessage just to make sure. You should be good. Cheers! IRINAZADEK and mockae 1 1

little1227 Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Hey there! Just trying to sort this whatsapp social media sharing issue. Thanks for sharing your process. Just a quick point of clarification, right at the end you say: Now upload your new image Send the link to your website to yourself on iMessage just to make sure. You should be good. Just wondering, in which of all the possible places should we upload the new imagine? The 'home' page social image? Or the global social sharing image? Etc. Thanks!
