dhtomlinson12345
Site URL: http://theoptionalfacts.com Hi there, I am trying to add a PDF to my site. I have tried to have it open as a new window...that doesn't work. I also want the PDF to be downloadable. I cannot figure out how to do this. I have watched so many videos...all say the same thing, and I have followed the directions. It just does not work. Can anyone help, please. The PDF is the Untold Stories of History. Thanks, Dave Link to comment
MaryPhilip_
An easy way around this is to have the pdf on Dropbox and make it a downloadable link following the steps in the article below: https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share/force-download Hi 👋 I'm a Squarespace Expert Member, Circle Member & only Squarespace Authorised Trainer in Scotland. JTK
Is there another way around this? I'm building a blog and as one of my blog posts I want to give readers the option to download a PDF right there on my site. I am also using this as a way to help drive traffic to my site. Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
You simple create a file link, can be text, button, image. Directions and video guide are here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205813928-Uploading-and-managing-files Edited February 15, 2021 by derricksrandomviews Link to comment
paz
@derricksrandomviews, I believe I have followed the steps listed in your link, but when testing the PDF for download, it does not work. I'm working on a trial site not yet live — does trial site have anything to do with not being able to download the PDF? Link to comment

paz
@tuanphan, not yet solved. I received a reply from Support with a couple of options and will be working on it later today. Link to comment
paz
Problem solved! I received another screen recording from tech support for this procedure. https://share.squarespace.com/nOulxR5b What is more obvious in this screen recording is that I must select the PDF file that I've uploaded and a check will appear next to it (see attached screenshot — the check is next to the cursor). Unless the PDF is selected with the check mark appearing, the link will not work when saved. There could be more emphasis on the support video on selecting and the check mark appearing. It appears other designers are running into the same problem. Link to comment
