Probable noob question - less space between blog and site footer

Hi all.

I want to have a site footer text pretty much right directly under my blog/site. When I add a footer to the page now there is a big space between the two. I don't know if the problem is that I somehow have to "get the footer up" or that there are some setting now which somehow adds that space under the "blog grid" (I think it is probably this).

Can some explain to this noob how to easily get this right? 🙂

Don't really want to share it here due to Google. Shouldn't really matter though as it's a very general question. I just want to know where/how to find the settings to make the space under the blog "grid" smaller - so that the space between that and the site footer disappear.
