Needery
Site URL: https://getgetgot.com Hello, I've been guest posting on a reputable site with a lot of traffic since the end of November and each post contains a link to my website. But this site is never showing up as one of my website's backlinks. I'm also unable to track the traffic that comes from this site as it's just showing up in my analytics as 'direct'. I checked with the other website and they assure me that my link doesn't have a nofollow on it. It has a 'noopener'. Does anybody have any idea why this is? Thank you. derricksrandomviews
Its a mystery, sort of. I have a couple of my SS sites that I track and the same thing happens, I know I am getting hits referred from a certain forum or other site and they show up as direct in google analytics. I think it has more to do with the site my link is posted on than google or SS. google search says this about the issue from this article: https://www.directom.com/direct-traffic-google-analytics/#:~:text=Google Analytics displays traffic sources, things we can't control. Google Analytics displays traffic sources as (direct) when the arrival session data is missing, or when a referring website/source sets itself to go unreported. First, let's rule out referral sources that do not indicate where a visit originated. There's no reason to focus on things we can't control.
