BenHobbs
Site URL: http://www.cinema-at-home.co.uk Hi Everyone, I'm building out a squarespace website for my home cinema company and looking for critique and advice on getting it looking a little more professional. Can anyone offer any advice or help please? I'm particularly struggling with tying it together colour wise, seems like too much white and black. Thanks in advance Link to comment
RFFowler
Hey there Ben, I myself am really quite new to all of this as well, but its amazing how quickly one can pick up on awesome tricks. I've always had an artistic vision, but never a conducive outlet beyond pen and paper, (as I can't draw worth a darn!) but here are my thoughts on your project! Seen as its cinema, which takes place in the dark, but has elements of light from the screen, I would go for a dark grey background color myself. Its sleek and serious and gives a relatable feel. Also because your site is more long than it is spread out amongst many pages, I would include some "anchor links" at the top and change the header so it isn't fixed or stuck at the top. I would also eliminate the black dividers throughout the page and pull that information together in an about page or section on the main. "Fresh content" is huge and redundancy or repetitive visuals are easy to dismiss as "cheap". People don't spend a lot of time browsing, like next to none. I hope this was constructive and doesn't come across as insulting, just some feedback from a newbie! Awesome business idea and great pictures though man, I'm sure you have many happy clients! Best of luck! Edited January 25, 2021 by RFFowler Link to comment
BenHobbs
Thanks very much for the feedback, yes one of the main parts I was unsure about was the black bars, I've toyed with grey colours - do you mean for the background of the main content instead of white? Link to comment
RFFowler
You're welcome sir, I also come from a background in construction and fine craft so I can appreciate what you're going for here, as well as have a bit of insight as to what type of clientele you're appealing to. As for the grey, yes in the main body instead of the white that's just what I think would look good personally. Think of your page as a pitch, and look at it as a potential customer. Sell your product or service to yourself by going through your site and see how it feels. What is it, how much does it cost, do other people like it, how do I get ahold of you? If you like I could help ya out a bit for free with this to clean it up and get ya on a path. I'm kinda interested now haha! Link to comment
BenHobbs
Thanks for your help, I've taken out the black stripes and interspersed the testimonials throughout in grey. Link to comment
