A button that is a content link to your blog page will always open the blog to the lastest post just as if you went to the page directly from the nav bar. Simply insert a button, edit,  click the gear icon, click page on the left, then click  search on the right, scroll down and choose blog then save.

Not necessarily. It depends how you have your blog setup. I asked this question previously in another post and still have not found the answer. If your blog page is set up to be a list of all the posts, this link you're creating in your method will just go to the blog summary page, not the first post in that blog summary list.

If your main blog page is set up as a continually scrolling list of the full blog posts, then yeah, the first one will always be at the top. But this is not the answer to the question asked.

I was under the assumption that the question was how to have a button that leads to the latest blog post  not to a summary block. I happen to have four or five ways to get to my blog posts both direcly or in a list.  If the question is to have a button that goes directly to the latest post without being part of a list or without changing the url, then one way to do that is always give the latest post the category "latest", and filter the button link  to that category. No url changing is required but the cat would have to be added to the latest post and removed from any others.  So if I put the following url on a button and use the category filter properly then the latest post will come up,  as an excerpt by itself so you still need to click read more to get to the whole post.

also gets you there but the post is the first of a list of posts. So which is better? Either way, one more click is needed to get you to your final destination.
