Creating a "SHOP" page w/ (affiliate) links that open as separate tabs

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am trying to create a "SHOP" page on my lifestyle website – it will be a place where products that have been featured elsewhere on the site (blog posts, product recommendations/reviews, etc.) are all gathered in one place for convenient browsing/shopping. I do not sell any of the items myself, so they will be (affiliate) links to external websites.

Ideally, visitors should be able to search/filter/sort products on this "SHOP" page. Most importantly, however, products should open as a separate tab when clicked.

So far, I have attempted a few simple work-arounds to the Squarespace 7.1 template: I tried creating each product as a separate blog post, in order to feature through summary block and enable some filtering. Unfortunately, the image will not open as a separate tab. And frankly, my approach seems rather clunky and insufficient to something that hopefully has a more elegant custom code solution.

Advice greatly appreciated!

Amelia 🙂

Thank you for your response! My website is not yet live, hope this link will give you access: https://ellipse-cuboid-b62g.squarespace.com/config/pages Any idea if it is possible to create something like the attached example? It displays the product photo with brand/store name and product name below, when you hover over the image a small "SHOP" banner pops up at bottom of image. Clicking anywhere on image or "SHOP" banner will take you to the product detail page. I understand if this is a bit ambitious 😅

Appreciate all assistance!

@tuanphan Hi - I am looking to do something similar.  I am linking product on my site to affiliate sites. It's a lot of images and links to manage so I set up the store to make it easier to pull products into different pages. But it is not an ideal experience.

Currently, users click on the product in a grid page and it takes them to a product page, and then they can click out. You can see in my site here - https://www.senseofspencer.com

Ideally I would like them to be able to click on the product in the grid and send them directly to the affiliate link. Like this example - https://www.collagerie.com/whats-new/gift-guide/the-price-is-right

The only way I can think to do this now is to manually add product / links to each page, which is just not very scalable.

If you have a solution, I would very much appreciate it.

You can consider using Summary Block to pull products from product page, then add external link in Excerpt
