Gift Option for Digital Product

I sell digital products (ebooks) on my site. I'd like to create the option for someone to purchase an ebook for someone else.  I've seen it done, here's an example (https://www.sproutedkitchen.com/shop/holidays-an-e-cookbook-gift-edition), where they have a custom product form to collect recipients name and email address etc and I know how to set that up.  However, I'm wondering how to bypass the fact that when someone purchases a digital product squarespace automatically sends them a download link.  In this case, they'd end up getting the download link and so will the recipient of the digital product.  Does anyone have a solution to this? Also, is there a way to customize what the download link email looks like? I can't find that anywhere.

This is achieved by creating a separate "Gift Edition" of the product using the "Service Product" option instead of "Digital Product". This enables you to capture the required information and then send the order manually.

If you have upgraded to the new style customer notifications (read the pros and cons carefully) then you can customise the digital download email. For more information, see Customer email notifications.
