Erin123
We are a small business that sells handbags of many sizes. We use carrier calculated shipping which works just fine for our mid sized and larger bags. Currently, we are have 3 shipping options that show up on our site: Retail Ground, Priority, and Priority Express. The Retail Ground option is only 5 cents less than priority, and no matter how much we tweak the dimensions and weights on our smaller bags, the lowest price we can populate is $8.20. We have the option within Ship Easy to ship First Class on these smaller items, but Squarespace will not give us the option. We are losing sales left right and center on these bags since the shipping costs are prohibitive. We have even received emails from angry customers accusing us of trying to rip them off with our exorbitant shipping charges. We do not want to over charge anyone!!!! Our smallest bag that populates on Squarespace as $8.20 shipping could go First Class for $3.00!!! Does anyone else sell smaller items on their site? How are you navigating the shipping process? We have been on a chat with Squarespace and they say it is not offered. So what are people doing then? Link to comment
sruss76
i know it isn't the best solution but you can partially refund customers on shipping they paid. just communicate to your customers (via announcement bar or on your shipping rates page) that the shipping quotes they see on checkout are pulled from USPS, and whenever you can, you will ship via the cheapest and refund anything over. luxcups
Also not ideal, you can manually add the rates for First class shipping. See image attached. If you do this option, make sure to check your discounts/coupons. Link to comment
PinkBug
I'm having the same issue with USPS OVERCHARGING! How did you solve the issue? Link to comment
moonflower
I am also extremely frustrated with carrier calculated shipping. I also don't feel like support is very helpful on this topic. The whole reason I signed up for the most expensive service plan option on Squarespace was the ability to have carrier calculated shipping. I am going to try to get a refund and switch to Shopify. paul2009
The shipping options on Squarespace are currently quite limited, especially outside North America. They have recently added a number of shipping extensions (Shippo, ShipStation, EasyShip) to try to improve the situation, but the situation is still not ideal. I've written about this a number of times, over many years (see my Commerce Limitations post) but it isn't something they can change quickly or easily. In the meantime, if you need better shipping options, you may want to a consider platform that is dedicated to eCommerce, like Shopify. It doesn't have the design finesse of Squarespace, but is feature-rich for commerce sites. Edited May 13, 2022 by paul2009 About: Squarespace Circle Leader since 2017. MichaelStraus
Hi Paul - are you able to create an integration for carrier calculated live rates, between shipstation and squarespace? Link to comment
