Wexley template | How to make a gallery post go full screen on mobiles/touchpads?

I'm using the Wexley template. On a desktop/laptop when I click on a gallery post, I don't go through to another page, but the post goes full screen. This doesn't happen for touchpads/mobiles; instead, when you click on the post, nothing happens with images and videos just play in situ.  This seems like an odd design to me. I'm wandering if it's possible to make the behaviour that happens on desktops/laptops happen with touchpads/mobiles? Some javascript maybe?
