decrease external requests on product pages

Hi all,

I have been checking the performance of my website with "pingdom" and I am trying to decrease the amount of external requests (so far I have 78 requests in the page in the link).

I ignore for what reason but in every product page, the product images are requested three times (please find attached pingdom screenshot). I guess this is because squarespace resize the image I uploaded to fit the screen where the site is loaded. However three times seems excessive. 

Is there anyway around this?
