How to apply text styles on a JavaScript Code?

Hello, 

I am using SquareSpace 7.1, and I wanted to have two vertical menu as you can see bellow:

The left side menu in yellow I used CSS coding to place my navigation like that, which I can change the text color to different pages background. 

To create the 2nd vertical menu, I have followed the steps from this blog:

Which tells me to Code Inject a JavaScript with #link to the pages, as you can see bellow:

But now I want to apply styles to the text on the left side menu, such as colors and margins. 

How can I apply the styles to my right side vertical-nav, and also be able to switch styles to different pages?

Or is there any other easier way to create two different vertical menus using only CSS?
