Images in a drop down menu instead or with text

Hi there, 

Is it possible to add images instead or with text in a drop down menu button for products.  Scenario: Product T-shirt, once in detail view there is a button Theme. Now I want the Theme button to be a drop down menu which will show different images like: star wars, flowers, cats, etc.

Best case those images can be linked from a database belonging to the homepage.
