Bilingual website with switch button

Hello, I wonder if there's a way to build a bilingual website adding a language button and mirroring the content in 7.1, without ending up with duplicate links and other problems. I want to mirror the content to English, adding a button to switch between Portuguese and English, but don't want duplicate links, etc - that is, I only want to see the links in the chosen language plus the button to switch to the other. Is there a way to do this, maybe with hidden pages and then building the menus manually? And is there a simple way to duplicate the content and then change it and tweak the links? Thanks!
