Translation of a header drop down menu that points to corresponding pages

Hello Everyone,

I am a neophyte in toolkits utilisation and I am working on a site where the person who owns the company wants the language options to appear horizontally along the header and in the top right corner to have a drop down navigation menu.

Now my question is the following: I understand the concept of "mirror" sites. Not sure on the terminology here which is basically static translation. However the language choices and the drop down menu are both in the header which cannot be segmented, so how do I go about translating the drop down menu when I click on the corresponding language. Through links I imagine, but can anyone please explain this in A+B fashion?
