Filtering text / articles by category, V.7

Hi guys,

I'd like to be able to sort my articles (text only) by subject categories.

The page I'm referring to in particular: https://ellakaleta.com/words-of-wisdom with the categories being: culture, activism, etc. at the top.

The effect I'm going for is like this exemplar page: https://www.honuboba.com/shop, where products can be selected by category. The difference is the latter is V.7.1 and uses images/products. I'd like to achieve the same function with V.7.0 and text only.

I have attempted a workaround with converting articles into blog posts, and using a summary block, but this isn't quite what I'm after, as I'd like to be in control of the length of the excerpt, and have all excerpts display on one page - with an option to filter by category.

If it's not possible to create the simple "selection menu" as the example above, does anyone know how to create chips/pills that have the same function? See the image attached.

Have no coding knowledge, so any help will be greatly appreciated,

I think you can try  this Filter Plugin. You can create filter features, support both Gallery Page, Portfolio Page, Blog Page, Product Page, Summary Blocks. 

You can also use it to add search, sorf by Price/Alphabetically,...
