Displaying interactive pdf

We have an interactive pdf that has links and videos and horizontally scrolls, rather than vertically.  I was able to load the pdf into the squarespace site as a horizontally scrolling gallery by converting each page into an image and then appended a download link for the real pdf.  The problem is that the gallery loses all interactive abilities because the slides are images now and when you click the pdf, it opens in a new page rather than just downloading.  I spoke to squarespace support and was told that the platform doesn’t support what we want to do without serious custom coding.  Is something like this possible?  

Or, alternatively, is it possible to open a page and have it automatically open the pdf, which has all of the capabilities already loaded into it?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
