Upgrading from 7.0 to 7.1

Would like to know if we don't upgrade to 7.1 would the 7.0 be phased out? We have a lot of pages and blog post and it would be hard for us to loose any SEO and also reposting all our pages, blog post, images etc

We are under the impression that Squarespace will provide continuous support for 7.0 but won't be adding new features.

Version 7.1 is now the default version when you start a new site but version 7.0 is still available for new sites and, as @abibacon says, will still be supported for some years to come.

Version 5.0 (launched in 2008) is still being supported, 12 years later! 

Hey @paul2009 We recreated our 7.0 website on 7.1 platform. However we want to bring over the blog and we have no idea how to make that happen. Can you please advise. Thanks

Depending on the size, you should be able to migrate the blog content from, 7.0 to 7.1 using a third party tool or by booking a Squarespace Expert who is familiar with the process.

@paul2009 I'm assuming based on what you're saying and what I'm reading elsewhere that if moving from 7.0 to 7.1, there is no native way to bring old blog posts to the new version.

Would it be correct to assume that using a third party tool would still screw with SEO ranking from back posts?

Correct. A native solution hasn’t been released yet.

You should always be prepared for potential changes but if you are creating the new blog with same URLs on the same domain, you backlinks shouldn’t be affected.

Squarespace don't normally offer refunds but, in my experience, they are offering a pro-rata refund on a 7.0 site if you are taking out a new annual subscription to a new 7.1 site.

Yes you generally can do this, you'll need to request this from Squarespace support, they will direct you on what to do and issue the refund for the remaining time left on your original plan:

If I currently already have a hosting subscription on my old 7.0 site and designed a new 7.1 site using the trial, can I transfer that 7.1 site onto my already purchased hosting subscription?
