How to NOT show Product Variant images on main product page Carousel

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help. 

On a Product page on my shop I'm trying to hide all the Product Variant images from the main product page. I only want these Product Variant images to come up if a customer selects them on the Drop down box.

Squarespace have said there is nothing they can do to help but there may be some advanced code/a plug in that can do this. My shop page isn't live yet so can't share a live link.

Any help greatly appreciated.

@AmyLordTJE it looks like you were able to find a solution this. Would you mind sharing it? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a work around to get rid of the Product Variant images.

As far as I could tell from @AmyLordTJE's description a solution was not found.
