Hello Squarespace

I have some SEO problems regarding my website, www.pepijnclaus.com

A month ago, sharing my website on Facebook has been no problem. It displayed exactly the image I wanted:118199382_342743756899602_429911084761786391_n.png.33cedd50d045700d786d09e05118e519.png

However: lately, the image changes to this, which is a black box. Not really inviting to visit my website, if you ask me 😕

The same in Messenger:

I didn't change anything regarding the SEO settings. It's still like this:

The same happened on Twitter. A week ago, the image was the drawing of my face, which was what I wanted. But since this week, the image automatically changed to a badly cropped version of the logo:

The only service that does it right, is Linkedin:

Can someone explain to me why this happens on Facebook and Twitter?
How can I solve this?

A big thanks in advance,

Best regards,

Pepijn (Pepin)

Well, I came to the circle forum this morning to see if anyone else was seeing any recent odd behaviors with their page’s social images showing up correctly. Sounds like I seeing the same thing as pepino above. My cases are allFacebook related but on two different SpSp websites and fiddling with both mobile and browser Facebook interfaces I seeing black rectangles instead of my page’s social media image. I seen old posts that displayed properly 2 weeks ago (approx) that today have turned to black rectangles. I can also confirm when making new FB link posts yesterday FB was displaying black rectangle when I could go and confirm the Social media image was set properly in SqSp.

So mark me down as having the same or similar problem. (Note: I’d share an example but I have to end up deleting the fb posts as they’re not working. Anybody else?

I am having the same issue as Pepin and Dave. Two shared posts from our Web site earlier in the week (on Monday and Wednesday) posted to Facebook as expected: with the link and the article image. The third link I shared to Facebook (on Friday) shows the link, but the image is the dreaded black box.

I used the Facebook debugger tool and the image showed up there as expected yesterday; today, I see the "missing image" icon. I do get this warning in the debugger: The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id. This same error showed up yesterday when I could see the expected image and also today when I get the missing image icon.

Not sure why this is an issue now when we've changed nothing on the Web site or the Facebook page in the last two days. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Totally unrelated to Squarespace, I’ve also noticed recently Facebook’s UI for doing a manually entered post has been going through some changes (mostly on the browser FB interface). It used be that you could enter a url and it would be parsed and the resulting link would display down below. You could then delete the url (which are ugly text) and the link and it’s image (if it had one) would stay down below in your post. That seems to have changed recently. What we’re all seeing could end up being something FB changed recently ... but I can’t explain Pepijn seeing oddities with twitter as well. But it related to the openGraph parameters and the odd err msg about fb:app_id ???
