alydrummond
Site URL: https://www.101waystohealthatshit.com/episodes Hi folks - I need to display my blog posts from oldest-first on either the main blog list page or in a summary block. The default is newest-first and while I would have thought reversing the order would be an obvious feature to have I'm not seeing that option anywhere. I've seen a recommendation to edit each post's publication date to be incorrect but to force them to display as I wish - but that is a very clunky solution that I really can't accept. Is there a code injection that might work? Or better yet, a built in feature that I'm too dumb to have found?! Thanks for your help! AsiaForum 1 Link to comment
pamontie
I don't have the answer to this either and am looking for it too. - any help greatly appreciated! Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
You change the publication date. I do it all the time, and sometimes on a summary block I change the publication date for oldest post to newest then don't display the date like here: https://myrandomviews.com/photography-lessons these posts are showing in reverse order from original pub date. pamontie
I'm wanting to add about 75 posts to a site as a numbered list 1-75. Then, as time passes, I would add new posts tacked onto the end - not the beginning (76,77, etc). Every time that happens I would need to change the dates on however many posts are already up so that it starts with 1. If I could just reverse the flow from Oldest to Newest it would make my life a lot easier. Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
There is no code to do that unfortunately. If you added posts you would just set the date for the new ones so they become the "oldest ones" or the "newest ones" or set the dates for the new ones so they show up in the middle, for that matter. pamontie
i think that will suffice actually in my case. thanks for the chat. I just needed to hash through it. Link to comment
bronwenhyde
I'm after this functionality too. Though I'm essentially just looking for a 'sort' function for my blog. I don't want to reorder my blog permanently. I simply want visitors to be able view posts - especially within a particular tag or category - in order of date published from oldest to newest for particular projects I've worked on. Even a 'cheat' in terms of the format of URL I would need to do this. It doesn't actually need to be something a visitor can do but just an extension to the URL that would reorder the posts and that I could link to from retrospective blog posts and/or other sites. It seems like something that should be available. I can do it on my Patreon posts on their platform but can't do it on my own blog? I've tried summary and archive blocks and neither do exactly what I'm after, or if they do, the design is all wrong. I don't have consistently formatted images with each blog in one of the projects (they're a mixture of portrait, landscape and square) so the options available in the archive or summary blocks do the posts a disservice, and I want visitors to be able to scroll through, not have to click through to each post. Essentially, I want people to view blogs within a category or tag in exactly the same way as they do currently, including any text in the original post, just reordered temporarily. At some point I'll likely add some or all of the images from these projects to view as a gallery, but I'm after something quick to simply re-present content already on my site, rather than having to build a whole new gallery from scratch in a rush, especially as one of the projects has 100 posts/images. My blog: https://www.bronwenhyde.com/blog One of the projects: https://www.bronwenhyde.com/blog/?tag=cut+out+and+keep How I can sort them and share a link from my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/bronwenhyde?filters[tag]=cut out and keep&sort=published_at As mentioned, even a format for the URL I would need to do this would be enough! Patreon use "sort=published_at" (oldest to newest) or "sort=-published_at" (newest to oldest) It seems counterintuitive to have to direct people away from my own blog/site to do something I feel I should be able to do on my own blog/site.
