how to different parts of an image linkable to different sections of a site

I'm trying to insert different links into different parts of an image. The image is actually a map of a location with different venues. I want each venue to have it's own link that takes you to another section of the site. 

At the moment I have thought of splitting the image into a grid and presenting that grid as a gallery. But then squarespace's responsive design often means the order of those grids will be moved about and destroy the cohesion of the map/image.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve the problem?
