vertical slide effect / carousel CSS?

I am desperately trying to do an effect like this vertical slide with project info. https://www.vmdo.com/discovery-elementary-school.html

I have looked everywhere and even tried taking the horizontal slideshow and recoding it to go vertical - massive fail!

Something like this or even a simple back forth full bleed slider that has text on one slide/image on another. I tried using a carousel, but I cannot get the images full bleed, sized so they are not stretched etc. 

Ideas? This is the page I am using as a trial. PW: BA47
