CatherineJoMorgan
Site URL: https://heartpainter.com/ Is it possible to add custom code to set the format for each product page individually? That would be wonderful. I have artwork that's in different formats and image ratios -- some square, some vertical, some landscape. I'm using the Wells template (will probably switch to Brine eventually) and have to compromise on the product image settings I use. I can show full images of paintings, framed or unframed, in a gallery, but I'd like to cut down on the number of links it takes to get to a place to buy a painting -- so I'm trying a revision that skips galleries in favor of product pages and summary blocks. It would seem that product blocks would be another option -- drawing from unlinked product pages -- but I've had trouble laying out pages so these are sized and formatted well. I also wonder if setting up pages with product blocks would add to page loading time Here are links to specific product pages. https://heartpainter.com/tiny-heart-paintings Here the settings of 2:3 (vertical) and autocrop work fine and show the whole painting. On this page, https://heartpainter.com/collage-heart-paintings most of the artwork is square, with a few landscape, so the viewer has to click on each image to see the whole painting. I keep playing around with different settings to find the best compromise, and this seems like the best one right now. But I think viewers would prefer to see the whole painting, and if matted or framed, see that from the start. Link to comment
CatherineJoMorgan
I finally solved this by redoing the site so that all product pages are unlinked, with categories and product navigation disabled in design settings. That way I could show every painting in wall summary blocks with excerpts just showing title and size. When a viewer click on an image, they see the actual product in the best possible view, with the alternative image(s) available, and can purchase right there. So they're going to the unlinked product page without seeing the whole ugly (IMO) page with weird croppings. I'm posting this in case anyone else runs up against a similar problem. Would have been easiest to do this from the start. https://heartpainter.com (Still have plenty of work to do, but I think this basic method will work. Open to suggestions always.) oliviasusan 1 Link to comment
