Ways to Edit, Move, and Organize Contacts in Mailing Lists?

Just getting familiar with the Marketing side of Squarespace. It is appealing to have it all in one place.

As I dig into the organization of the Subscribers I am curious on how to do basic tasks. Maybe there is a way I am not seeing.

First of all, I have read the docs and they were very helpful. I however did not see these things which is why I ask.

1) How can you edit a Subscriber? I read in the docs that the way to "Edit Subscribers" is to add a new Subscriber with the email you wish to update and then just include the new name. Is that really the only way? Kind of seems like a work around why not just a edit dialogue right there like most fields on the site?

2) How can you move OR copy a Subscriber from one Mailing List to another? Maybe the Subscriber should actually be in List A vs List B. How can I move OR copy that Subscriber? It seems currently the only way is to delete the Subscriber and then manually re-enter (or with a .csv).  

3) Can you add any other information to a Subscriber like tags, descriptors, dates, etc?

I am thinking that if I don't implement good organizations practices now it could get out of hand and hard to manage with 1,000's of emails.

I too have the same question. It is disappointing that nobody has responded to this after several months. Casey and Rebekah, did you ever figure it out? I am also trying to figure out if one contact can be on two different mailing lists.

One contact can be on multiple lists. You just add their e-mail address to it from the screen where you add emails to mailing lists like normal, and then you'll notice that the Profile recognizes that they are on two lists after that. But all of the above functions would be ideal, having to re-submit e-mail addresses to change basic things like names or having to delete a contact to change their e-mail address is a huge pain.

Hello, On the topic of basic email list management - I'm trying to clean out/delete/remove bad email addresses from the master list and not finding a way to do that. At least not in an obvious manner. If I'm missing something simple, would love some input. Thank you!

Hey Squarespace and response on this? I simply need to edit the names of some of the member in my email lists and cannot. It seems like a pretty and reasonable feature.

Wow.  Squarespace is an extraordinary platform.  Why is the email list so bad and why is customer service so unresponsive on this seemingly simple problem?  

We all just want to be able edit email lists and profiles.

I too dont seem to find a way to do this. My client gave me one set of lists to import and then changed them and updated them all - over 1000 contacts  - and now I cant simply delete existing subscribers and import again! This is not great! Any work arounds yet guys?

I would like to delete an entire list of subscribers. I do not see a way to do this.

I'm still refusing to make use of Squarespace eMail Campaigns until they make it POSSIBLE to edit/clean/manage email lists/contacts. MailChimp, while I'd LOVE to house everything under one "roof," makes this 100x easier to do... A clean eMail list is imperative to the longterm success of any business... I wish they'd prioritize this.

Also, according to GDPR law, a contact/subscriber has the right to be entirely removed from the system. How can we do that if there is no option to delete them? This is a serious issue.

If you or your subscriber are governed by privacy legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) in the UK and Europe, then I recommend that you take a look at section 7 of the Squarespace Privacy Policy:

I've noticed that the only way to delete a subscriber of the mailing side of Squarespace is to pay more by joining Scheduling , my business doesnt rely on appointments, all I want to do is clean up my mailing lists???I cant even contact Squarespace by email as they insist on resolving things by sending me to a webpage....Please help? thanks H 

Also wondering about this. No way is this a useful feature if we can't edit.

Also would like option to import with tags or edit multiple contacts tags at once.

This mailing list "feature" is a marketing hoax. Really unfortunate. My confidence in Squarespace providing a clean and simple solution  for their customers just dropped like 100 points. This is ridiculous.

SQUARESPACE: Please add a way to DELETE subscribers from the mailing lists. Otherwise, no one will use your service. Make this happen ASAP.
