if galleries are gone in 7.1, what is a suitable replacement

I inherited a number of school websites that were pieced together, much like people who press the space bar 357 times instead of just setting tabs. Finally figured out galleries for one of my sites, but as the other is on 7.1, I cannot figure out the best way to create a staff page that shows their image, name that I can link to email, title, phone, whatever.

How is the best way to replicate this on 7.1? Choosing the staff option via page layout seems to be a clunky way.

And no, I have very little clue as to what I'm doing. Thank you for any help you can offer.

You can use Image Blocks to create above layout.
