Ratings on Google: Recipe Ratings Rich Snippets

On my client's website we are using a custom code block to insert a very nice looking recipe card on blog post page. The HTML of the recipe card uses the Recipe Schema so that Google displays an appropriate recipe card on search results.

We are also using Rating Widget to display star ratings to users. We are struggling with getting the star rating on the google search result recipe card though.

Since the Rating Widget is a third-party Javascript snippet, we need to capture that rating after the page and widget has loaded. We thus have to use an application/ld+json script tag with all the recipe data, which we append after the page has loaded.

When using Google's Rich Results Testing Tool (https://search.google.com/test/rich-results), we can see that it accurately captures the Recipe data and the rating. However, on actual search results the rating still does not coming through.

For example, use this link to see the Rich Results of a particular page: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nikkidinkicooking.com%2Fblog%2Fcreamy-spicy-corn-dip.html&user_agent=1

If you preview the result, you can view the recipe card with a rating on it.

Disclaimer: on the rich results testing tool it does say, "This is a beta version. Not all rich results and error types are supported yet."

Has anyone had any success displaying ratings on Google search results? What was your implementation?

Hello! I have a recipe blog as well. I have done a ton of research and currently Squarespace does not have a solution with star ratings connecting to Google's SEO and Rich snippets. We can only use third party star rating systems and it unfortunately does not automatically connect to the schema code. What you will have to do is keep track of each page and if the rating changes, you will have to manually update the aggregating rating on your Schema code. It's a pain and it almost has me wanting to switch to Wordpress. They are more friendly with food blogs and have plugins that do this for you.
