GabriellaConstantinou
Site URL: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206232858#toc-link-to-files Hi everyone I've been struggling with making an added button open a pdf file in a new window and it just won't work. I've tried several times with different pdf files too. I've checked that the pdf file is under 20MB so that shouldn't be a prob. I still haven't published the website I'm still working in the domain Squarespace has given me but I have bought my own domain, just haven't put it use yet. The weird thing is that a link attached to a photo does open in a new window but not the pdf file... So if anyone has any idea of what might be the problem please let me know! It would so much appreciated! Thanks Gaby Link to comment

RPMcindy
I have the same issue unresolved ... this should be an easy thing to do! I do not want to have to use ISSUU just to allow a web visitor to view and print a PDF file ... that is riduculous ... and it's something that squarespace USED to allow ... I had many of these in prior squarespace sites ... please advise! sjet 1 Link to comment
wendyrimel
I have the same problem. My uploaded PDF was working just fine. I went to change out the PDF and now it does not work. I am being required to add a link. Link to comment
DannyDiamonds
Yo I had this problem too! Finally figured it out. When you upload the file, click the uploaded file listing so that there's a check by the file name. Do that before saving the website. This will link the PDF to the button. Hope this helps 🙂 Link to comment
TLD1570048668
I found this and it worked: https://www.samchowdesigns.com/blog/how-to-embed-pdf-on-squarespace-tutorial If the PDF doesn’t contain information that’s super relevant to most of your audience, don’t take up precious screen space by embedding it. Instead, include a text link that users can click on to go to the PDF on a separate page. For example: “Click here for our full tasting menu.” Linking to the PDF is also a good option if people need to download the PDF. For example, you might link to a PDF of an application form that needs to be filled out and sent by mail. Linking to a PDF on Squarespace is super easy. All you have to do is: Add a text block Highlight the text you want to turn into a link Choose the link icon A small pop-up will open. Click on the gear icon Click “File” to upload new file or choose an existing file Save! Link to comment
Shaya
Hi I'm having this issue, too and it is still unresolved. I am linking an image of the cover of a pdf giveaway to the uploaded pdf file. The file size is small enough. When I click on the linked image it starts to open my adobe acrobat, says it's downloading the file and then it just goes to a blank screen with this url: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/6670aeb5513cea2591a006c1/t/66bb9d322d66df00f93feaa6/1723571506859/Life+Portfolio-compressed.pdf Really frustrating! I don't understand why it's not working! Any ideas? Link to comment
