Order Confirmation Page - inserting custom code variables

I have a lot of information in the "message" of my order confirmations, which pushes the actual order information (product ordered, quantity, payment amount, etc.), to the very bottom of the email.  i want to add to the top above my custom message in the order confirmation email, basically the same info that is at the bottom about what was ordered.  i found this page that says i can use {hasServiceproduct} and it should add what i want it to add in the message of the email, but i did a manual test order (i put in a fake order), and the code just returns "true" instead of the information of the order in the email.
