allister
Site URL: https://www.allisterfreeman.co.uk Hi there, been methodically going through my site making changes my seo software is flagging up. It's showing two h1 tags on pages, looking at the source there's an h1 applied to the logo file on the site (not using text logo) in addition to the page heading. <h1 class="logo"><a href="/"><img src="//static1.squares... I'd love to be able to get rid of it, anyone had any success here? Any pointers appreciated! Al Link to comment
Guest
Dont keep logo as h1 tag use your keyword which you target as h1 tag in all the pages. One more thing use only one h1 tag. Make 10 h2 tag you can use..Good luck. Link to comment
onlineKarma
This is indeed a problem which should be regarded. I just spoke with Squarespace and will share their update here. The issue remains, @selvan, that you cannot remove the H1 tag which is by default set in the "Site Title" / Logo section, meaning that you must have two h1 titles on the page, which is regarded as an SEO issue. Do you know if this problem is already solved by Squarespace? I don't want al my pages to have a H1 "Site Title" because of SEO says you must try to only use 1 H1. But every page now has my Site Title as a H1 😞 Link to comment

I would like to get rid of the h1 tags for "upper logo" (which i don't know, what it ist for, because it does not show on the page) as well as for "lower logo" (which does appear on the page). @squarespace please help. nickbie
Is there a fix for this? I don't want the logo as a h1 either. Link to comment
JonathanGrover
<script> document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function() { const div = document.createElement('div'); const a = document.querySelector('#logoImage a'); const aStr = a.outerHTML; div.innerHTML = aStr; const h1 = document.getElementById('logoImage'); h1.replaceWith(div); }); </script> <style> div#logoWrapper img { max-width: 250px; } </style> This code works! I wrote this because other solutions used jQuery and this is plain JavaScript. IMPORTANT: I had to place it inside of Website > Pages > Settings (Gear Icon) > Advanced. When I placed it in Website > Website Tools > Code Injection it did not work nor could i get any code that changes the DOM to work from there. Unfortunately this means I had to add the code to every page one by one. Is Squarespace blocking DOM manipulation from the Code Injection fields? It would be more ideal to place this code there so it could be added in a single place and effect all pages. Thanks Edited August 6 by JonathanGrover Link to comment
