VictoriaLeader
Site URL: https://www.victorialeader.com/message Anyone have ideas of how to block a specific user or IP address from using your website or contact form? An individual has been harassing me on a variety of platforms -I have blocked him from all accounts including my email, but he has taken to filling out contact forms on my business website now. Squarespace do not have an official way of limiting users from using these forms. He's using this page: https://www.victorialeader.com/message Do I remove this, show an email address instead and block him from that email address? I'd rather a different work around if possible, as the forms have been really useful to me and my business (gathering relevant information from outset, using different forms for different content/applications etc). I have found his IP address but am not sure what I can do with it. Any advice would be very appreciated... this person is driving me crazy! Thank you Victoria Tyra 1 Link to comment
Tyra
Sadly, You can’t block IP addresses on Squarespace according to this https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/217549458-Activity-Log-Analytics but I’m having a similar issue and wish there could be a way. If it’s any consolation, from what I’ve read about blocking IP addresses, it would be very easy to go around. So it doesn’t sound like it would be worth it anyway. Just doing a search on internet harassment I found some websites that might help: https://onlineharassmentfieldmanual.pen.org/ https://www.digitalinformationworld.com/2019/03/infographic-how-to-handle-online-harassment.html?m=1 https://privacyrights.org/consumer-guides/online-harassment-cyberstalking Link to comment
derricksrandomviews
Is almost impossible. You block an email address, too easy to create a new one. You block an ip address and they just email you from some other physical location. If it could be done we would do it here to block all the spammers we get trying to sell who knows what. griff48
hi im currently getting some very nasty messages on my contact page on my website. Can the moderator advise me if square space can locate his or her IP address from the contact page they have filled in? these messages include threats to kill and today an acid attack on a female employee. Any help would be appreciated as these are increasing in quantity and in maliciousness too. thanks Link to comment

Susana_SQSP
Hi @griff48, I am really sorry to hear about the messages you've been receiving through the Form Block on your site! While for privacy reasons Squarespace wouldn't be able to give out IP addresses even if this would be information that would be collected, and that this situation is something out of our control, one thing you can try is creating email filters that block or delete these kind of messages. For example, here are Gmail’s instructions for creating email filters. For more help with setting up email filters, I'd recommend reaching out to your email provider. You can also add Google reCAPTCHA to your form, but keep in mind this helps protect from spambots. For instructions on adding reCAPTCHA to your form, check out this help article. Link to comment
GMJ
I have an artist that has been harassing me and now my minor sons. He has started using the Squarespace Form to send emails. Is there anyway to stop this? Item six really does not address this issue. Link to comment

It does address the issue that posting in the forum will not necessarily get a response from Squarespace. My post also indicates how you can contact SS. As @Susana_SQSP indicates there is not much they can do. Nor can we. She does provide some tips on filtering emails for Gmail. Many modern email apps also provide email filtering. Keep in mind that email filtering is only as good as long as the harasser keeps using the same email address. Given that free email addresses are a dime a dozen email filtering is little hindrance to a serious harasser. Susana_SQSP 1 Find my contributions useful?
