How to customize product form that responds with price change?

Recommended Posts

Site URL: http://salmonsamurai.com

I've launched my food delivery site, and the concept is salmon poké bowls, which allows customers to modify their bowls according to their preference. The more items they add, the pricier it gets. Currently I can only add 2 options of toppings, when at the restaurant they're allowed to add extra protein, extra base, extra toppings etc. Is there a way of customizing a form instead that will change the price accordingly before they add to cart?

It may look as though you can only add two topping options, but this is because the size of the 'Edit Product' window is very small, it isn't very obvious that there are further columns on the right where you can add further variants.

If you scroll to the right, you should see the plus (+) sign and be able to add further toppings. Here's how it should work for you:

You should then see this:

Yes. Right now, when a customer views a product, none of the variant options will be pre-selected, forcing the customer to select a valid option. With some code, we could change this so that the first 'no topping' option is initially selected. If customers don't change them, they will be able to add the basic item to their cart. If they choose another option, they will see the price change, like this:

Let me know if you'd like help to do this.

Hi Paul!
Thanks for helping. I did add more options but that will unfortunately create way too many variants that the system can't handle. My team and I are still thinking of ways we can still allow our customers to fully customize their orders to provide the somewhat full experience that they would get in store.

Sure, I would love your help with the coding. Thank you!

Hi Paul,

I need to do exactly this for my website. Is there any code I can inject to achieve this? I need 2 drop-down menus for my products.

Thanks,

Lucy

Hi Lucy

This is possible with complex variants and some code. I sent you a direct message.

Hi Paul,

I have the same issue - URL holleywoodworking.ca - we have customizable charcuterie boards. I want to add 8 engraving options to each standard design we make (we have 6 standard designs) which will be an overwhelming amount of variants. I hoped to create a form that could be applied to all products and once selected will change the base price. Can you help?

Can you provide a few more details and perhaps a link to the product as I'm not sure I understand the issue in your case? If there are only 8 engraving options, can you not have an 'engraving' variant?

The code is sold as an extension - see the earlier post in this thread.

If you have questions about suitability, please DM me with a working link to the site.

Hi Paul, I am having a similar issue and was wondering if you could help? On our product pages ( eg https://www.azuspirits.co.uk/whisky-boxes/p/several-styles-of-scotch ) we would love if people could have the option to select the six spirits they want in the tasting from those included in our collection. To include the more expensive whiskies we would have to have varying prices, and each of the six options would need a range of spirits people could select from. Let me know if this is possible and whether there is a code injection I can do or whether you can help 🙂

This isn't possible on Squarespace as the number of variants will exceed the Squarespace limit. Code cannot increase this.
