Adding a "compare products" feature

I am a photographer in the process of adding a section on my website dedicated to selling prints of my work. Since I will offer about (40) different images, I would like potential customers to be able to select "X" number of images they like and then have their selections grouped together on a new page where they can compare their favorites before making a final selection. I have contacted SS support and they have told me that one, there isn't an option to currently do that and two, it sounded like a great idea and they were going to suggest it as a feature. 

I would like to know if anyone has found a way to do this?
