Avenue - Gallery opening in slideshow from index page

I use avenue and want to keep the galleries in slideshow mode, I really don't like them stacked.

Is there anyway I can open a gallery in slideshow mode from an index page?

Use a standard page with a gallery block. Gallery blocks can be designed many ways. Then put that page in the index. Here is an example, the first thumbnail is a slide show.

I've tried using gallery block but it doesn't resize according to screensize, as it would do in a regular gallery page.

Any solution for that?
