Improve your Site Speed Tips!

There are not enough resources out there for improving site speed, the squarespace help videos and squarespace support doesn't have anything covering these topics.
If you have your own tips you've found for improving site load times and speed please add them in the comments for everyone to learn from!! 🙂

Design > Templates > make sure you've only got one installed, if you have older templates uninstall them now!
Design > Site Styles > Fonts > use this link here to remove any fonts your not using so that there are less scripts that need to be loaded on initial page load! https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fe2a.studio%2Fsquarespace-tips-how-tos%2Fhow-to-remove-unwanted-fonts-from-your-squarespace-website%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR0fWLCkjkiQYCCOAi_ztTiKdtogeZmfb-2W-uRlvUgRNA0kY5V5g__XeX4&h=AT2-Wvu8aAvU-7FNtJbJwDxAYiecmVOqQuRMaQtBLuSaPu6r5xUWxlU2d7ZR6juDgjYLTClAwUcuMtK6qG0vpZrRAnjDhYPlfft-IELwJYfs49zLGIlkS396BeuOlNm570hz3k1b_K_8qxWBkeYYdPhMPQM

Those two things alone brought my site speed from around 10sec load time down to 2 sec load time!! 🙂
Hope this helps someone!

Thanks for the excellent tips. I would normally ensure that all of my images are as small as possible. You can use Tinyjpg (https://tinyjpg.com/) or Compressor.io (https://compressor.io/) to help with this.

I tried your tip for removing unwanted fonts but not having any luck. Despite going through every setting, removing extra pages, I'm still seeing some loaded. Can you provide any additional guidance on this?

Wanted to share that I was able to find an interim solution to removing unwanted fonts. I backed up the site styles to a JSON document, and used an editor to replace the extra fonts with the ones that I wanted shown throughout the site. Following that, I restored the edited file to the site. It worked to some extent.

Thank you for these interesting tips.

However, does anyone have an idea as to how to remove and reduce the size of JS files? This has been marked by Google Analytics for the following website esazul.dk

I know the image size needs to be optimised, but there seems to be also a lot of the Squarespace assests that are slowing the site down?

Any ideas?
