How to block form submissions from free email domains

I want to be able to put an email validation check into my forms so that I can ensure any form submissions are from work email addresses and not '@gmail.com' etc.

How can I do this? I assume I will need some custom code to place in the code injector within Squarespace's back end?

It is possible to block selected domains with some JavaScript, added through Code Injection. The exact code will depend on the specifics of the form and the addresses that you want to block. The list of free email domains is long and constantly changing so it will be difficult to "block form submissions from free email domains" as you asked in your question.

Can you explain WHY you want to block these? There may be better ways to achieve your required outcome.

I am receiving too many submissions from individuals with gmail accounts that are not qualified business leads. I'd like to start by blocking gmail submissions to see if that alleviates the poor or unqualified sales leads my site is collecting.

Because, Paul, moments after opening my website, without advertising it, I am seeing the trickle of unsolicited spam messages come in, offering to re-do my website and tweak it for SEO.

These have been from gmail.com email addresses.  I, and I am sure some others, are not marketing our services to individuals with gmail, yahoo, yandex, etc.
