Browse on a single page

Hi people, 

I'd like to create or somehow integrate a resources page (sort of library of links with images opening light boxes) and be able to select several categories through lists and get the result directly on the page. Please see screenshot attached. Is there anything similar or someone already did it before and could eventually drive me through this?

My template's version is 7.1

You can apply plugin for Summary Block, Blog Pages, Event Pages, Portfolio Page, Shop Page.
